Adjustments and Manipulation

Adjustment_2.jpg Our bodies are best able to carry our daily loads when the musculoskeletal system is in alignment. Things happen, such as sports accidents, tripping at home, an incident at work, or even wear and tear, that can lead to our parts falling out of equilibrium. Dr. Mark Klezmer, with the Integrative Chiropractic Services of Stoughton, MA, performs adjustments to help to mend the issues that this can cause.

What Causes Misaligned Joints?

Our spines are built from vertebrae and discs that stack upon each other. This helps to protect the spinal cord and support the entire body. Certain incidents can cause the discs or vertebrae to become misaligned. Jarring motions involving the back, neck, or head are particularly likely to do this, especially if the supportive soft tissues are already weak.

Similarly, blunt force to the body can cause a joint to come out of socket. Shoulders, hips, ankles, and knees are the most common victims of this.

How Can Chiropractic Adjustments Help?

Chiropractors are trained to know how the musculoskeletal system works. They understand how the moving parts are supposed to balance each other, as well as how to get each part back to its original home.

Chiropractors can manually work with the body to make certain that everything is back in the proper places and functioning as it should.

Spinal Decompression

Our backs are the center of all of our activities. Many important parts are housed in this area. Nerves that operate our vital organs and limbs run through the spine. If the vertebrae become misaligned, the discs and nerves may become pinched. Some muscle groups will have to work harder to deal with the uneven load. This can cause tingling, burning, or numbness to certain parts of the body, as well as muscle pains.

Spinal decompression works by opening up space for the discs to move into their original places. This will relieve any uneven load to the back as well as relieve pressure of pinched nerves or discs.

Extremities

Work and sports injuries can involve more than just the back. Extremities are at high risk of twisting or dislocation. Our office pays special attention to the needs of these activities and can perform therapeutic recovery exercises designed to help return you to your original condition. We can even implement EMS, active release technique, or ultrasound therapies as best fits the situation.
